She could call for help, try to drag him to safety or let the storm grant her prayer of blowing away and tearing down the house, memories and take her father with it. Her drunkard father is passed out with the storm about to hit. The twister does come however she now has a choice to make. I have thought that in the beginning of the song when she's praying for that, she doesn't really care if she's in the house or not when the twister hits she just wants the house to cease to exist.

The premise is pretty obvious in that since her mother in the song has passed away she continues to pray for a tornado to come and blow the house she lives in with her father away and wash away all the bad memories she has of that life. The song makes it seem like he's a drunkard who beats the hell out of his daughter (Carrie - both in song and video). General CommentThe video does a good job of interpreting the lyrics although they are pretty mild when it comes to the abusiveness of the father. She thought that someday it would be the ultimate revenge when he doesn't get to have her. She just blocked herself out, she didn't want to be around him or have anything to do with him. "Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away" - again, she wishes for all her pain to go away. "Nothing left of yesterday" is saying that she just wishes for everything to be over with, just forgotten. Shatter every window till it's all blown away,Įvery brick, every board, every slamming door flown away It's not just a direct meaning of a tornado blowing down a house with her father in it. Song MeaningI think this is about how she wants to forget about all the pain her father brought to her.
